Modge-Podge Doodle Bug Box

Happy Monday! I hope all you fantabulous readers are having a wonderful beginning to a new week. Normally I hate Monday's because that means the hubby goes back to school all day for the rest of the week but this morning I woke up very happy! I hope you aall had the same morning and if not I hope this adorable idea will brighten up your day!

So yesterday my wonderful hubby let me have a few hours to myself as a sort of break after re-adjusting this past week to him being gone all day again. (He has been home for 5 months so it is definitly a re-adjustment!) I decided to shop my facvorite store JoAnns. Now let me tell all you non-Californians, I am so jealous! As much as I love JoAnns I wish we had a hobby lobby! I can only hope that all goes according to plan and in 5 years we will be in Colorado so I can finally have my Hobby Lobby to shop at! Ok, back to business, while browsing I found this adorable jewelry box for 2.99. The only problem was it had mesh on the top and as I was standing there an idea popped into my head! I could make the munchkin a bug box. Not just any bug box, but a doodle bug box. When my younger sister was little she had a bug box that she carried everywhere. Now her nickname was Doodle (don't know why) and I still call her that to this day which of course she hates being a 17 year old. So we would call her box the Doodle Bug Box. Then I thought what about making the munchkin a doodle bug box just like her Auntie. So I grabbed the box, some adorable butterfly paper and was off all for under 4.00!

Remove all the hardware to make it easier to modge-podge

Paint all the surfaces you are not going to modge-podge in a coordinating color

Let paint dry

Modge Podge all the areas you want. I followed these directions.

Add any additional embellishments and replace hardware

Decorate the top with your munchkin's name

Now you have an adorable Doodle Bug Box

Enjoy!

  3. That is super cute! When we lived in Arizona, they were almost done building a Hobby Lobby within 5 minute of our house and then we moved :( I am sure my husband and his wallet is happy about that though

  4. That is super cute! I love the colors and the butterflies. What a great idea, I know that my boys would love a place to put all of their bugs in the spring and summer time! Thanks for the idea!

  6. That is so cute! I remember when my kids caught fireflies when they were young. They are all grown now and we live in Florida (no fireflies here).
